Collaboration and Reflection to Enhance Atlanta Teacher Effectiveness (CREATE) Teacher Residency Program
About the Intervention
Collaboration and Reflection to Enhance Atlanta Teacher Effectiveness (CREATE) is a three-year teacher residency program that aims to raise student achievement in local high-needs schools by increasing teacher effectiveness and retention of both new and veteran educators. The program develops critically-conscious, compassionate, and skilled educators who are committed to teaching practices that prioritize racial justice and interrupt inequities. CREATE residents spend the three study years working in Atlanta Public Schools, with progressive classroom roles, receiving support from their cohort and CREATE program team each year, including Together Time meetings and the Summer Resident Academy. The program has evolved to incorporate equity-centered practices and focuses on equipping teachers with skills such as mindfulness, compassion, communication, and a willingness to engage across differences.
