General Education TeacherIntervention Summary
Red Light, Purple Light is a program designed to improve children's self-regulation skills. The program consists of a consistent opening greeting song, five music and movement games, and a consistent closing goodbye song. The music and movement games are variations of the game Red Light, Green Light, where children are asked to perform actions in response to visual or oral cues. The games increase in complexity as they progress, with the teacher adding more cues and actions. The program is implemented by teachers who receive a 3-hour in-person training and a kit of materials provided by the developer. The sessions are conducted twice a week for 8 weeks, during circle time, and last approximately 20 minutes.
