Intervention Summary
The Parent Leadership Institute (PLI) is a program that aims to improve the capacity of parents to effectively engage in the school community in support of their child and increase the capacity of school staff to create and support environments which are welcoming to and supportive of the active engagement of parents as key members of the school community. The PLI program includes three core components: a parent resource room, parent engagement coordinators, and tailored services and supports. The parent resource room is a dedicated space in the school where parents can gather, receive support, and access resources. The parent engagement coordinators work with parents, school staff, and community organizations to develop and deliver programming that meets the needs of parents and families. The tailored services and supports include adult education workshops, parent leadership development activities, and help with linking parents to needed resources within the school and the broader community.
