Intervention Summary

Reading Apprenticeship® is a program that targets improving student outcomes in literacy, science achievement, and grade point average. The program uses instructional strategies to help students build comprehension skills, overcome difficulties with reading, interact more deeply with text, gain interest in reading, and improve their confidence in reading. Teachers model comprehension strategies and help students practice these strategies, mentoring students in reasoning and problem-solving skills to handle more complex reading tasks. The program includes professional development for teachers, which can be delivered online or in-person, and provides teachers with a copy of the developer's e-book, Reading for Understanding.
