About the Intervention

UNISON (Uplifting Non-cognitive Skills and Innovation through Student Opportunity Networks) is a whole-school mentoring program designed to develop students' non-cognitive skills and improve academic achievement in low-performing high schools. The program targets 9th-12th grade students and operates at three levels: whole-school (collective impact teams, school culture programs like Rachel's Challenge, and Friends of Rachel clubs), classroom (BARR teacher training with I-Time curriculum and student risk management meetings), and individual (1:1 mentoring, group mentoring, peer mentoring, college/career readiness services, and parent engagement). Implementation includes embedding a college success coach in each school and a collective impact coordinator in each county. The program was delivered over three years in three Florida high schools.
